Description
Eden Vineyard offers a selection of six dessert grape varieties, highly resistant to frost and disease.
All varieties presented are highly resistant to disease and frost (most down to -30°C), and the fruit is very sweet (these are dessert varieties).
These varieties can be grown throughout the country and do not require any special care, winter protection, or spraying.
These are top-quality, grafted, perfectly rooted vines that will establish easily, develop quickly, and are resistant to disease and frost.
Below is a description and photo of each variety in the selection:
ISABELLA – a variety from the USA. It is characterized by exceptionally high, practically complete, resistance to frost and all diseases. It can withstand frosts down to -30°C, and some experiments have shown that it has even withstood frosts as low as -32°C. It is completely disease-resistant. Despite its very high hardiness, the fruit is not very small; clusters can reach up to 250 g. The berries are round, dark blue, and compact. The flesh is fleshy, with a thin but noticeable skin. The fruit is sweet and usually ripens after September 20th. Its vigorous growth and large, ornamental leaves make it sometimes used for planting on balconies and gazebos. Generally considered the tastiest and best dessert grape among the varieties with very high frost resistance.
Einset Seedless – this variety originates from the USA and has been successfully cultivated in Poland for about 20 years. This seedless grape has pink-purple, very sweet fruit. It is often described as having a strawberry or wild strawberry flavor. The fruit fully ripens around September 15th and is then ready for picking, but can be successfully stored until the end of December – such frozen varieties have a distinctive and very good flavor. Because it is a seedless variety, it is suitable for raisins. Einset Seedless is a very easy-to-grow vine. It is virtually completely disease-resistant and frost-resistant down to -30°C. It does not require winter protection or spraying.
RELIANCE – a variety originating from the USA, successfully cultivated in Poland for about 20 years. Reliance is a seedless grape with pink, very sweet fruit. Frost-resistant down to -25°C, it is completely disease-resistant.
VENUS – a seedless variety with a slight Labrusca flavor, attractive dark clusters, and exceptionally decorative leaves that change color in autumn. Frost-resistant enough for amateur cultivation in Poland. Bushes grow moderately to vigorously. Clusters: medium, approximately 250g. Berries: medium, 2.9g, blue-black, seedless or with small, soft seeds that are imperceptible when eaten. Flesh: separating from the skin.
Swenson Red – a very interesting dessert grape variety from the USA. It has medium-sized, tightly packed clusters. It has a distinctive sweet flavor, often considered reminiscent of wild strawberries. This variety also has a long shelf life, with fruit that doesn’t drop even in heavy frosts. Therefore, this vine is a great idea for planting near the house, where delicious fruit can be harvested even in January! Its unquestionable advantage is that it is virtually indestructible in Polish climates. It can be successfully cultivated throughout the country. It is characterized by virtually complete resistance to frost and disease, and very vigorous growth. According to documentation, its frost hardiness is -30°C (-22°F), but experience has shown that even frosts of -32°C (-22°F) have not harmed it. Therefore, it can be planted even in the most unfavorable locations.
ISKRA – a very good Russian dessert variety with seedless berries. Very tasty and sweet. Its very high frost resistance down to -27°C and short ripening period make it ideal for growing in Polish climates. The cluster weight ranges from 500 to 900g. The berries are spherical and light yellow.
